Frustration

Today I arrived at the parctice room we rent by the hour only to find out that no music was coming from the inside (ie: there were no bands practicing) and that nobody would open the door for me after I repeatedly rung the bell. All that, plus the fact that all the lights were off lead to only one conclusion: for some reason, the place was closed.

Five minutes after my arrival, our keyboardist showed up and was as surprised as I was. There were no signs on the door or any notes so that we would at least know what was going on. I've been renting this practice room for over 2 years with both my bands and this is the first time I ever ind the place closed.

Our first thought was that maybe someone had died and that was the reason they were closed. And yet, it is customary to leave a note on the door when such things happen.

A few minutes later, our bass player arrived too. By then, we'd already phoned the guitarrist and the lead singer and told them not to come. Everything was very upsetting because 3 of the band members live out of town and travel to the city especially for the practices.

I should note that neither of us had the phone number of the place. Stupid of us. On top of that, I didn't know the password for my home answering machine, so I couldn't retrieve any possible messages the owners of the practice room might have left me.

And so we left and I came home. They had in fact left a message on my answering machine: They were closed because they'd had problems with the city government. You need an authorization to open a practice room, because of the noise, the music and all that. I can only guess that's what this was all about.

So that was it. The whole situation was very frustrating for us, because we missed a practice we were very much looking forward to.
